Robert E. Bouquet
I am a self-taught sculptor working in the “taille-directe” or direct carving method. I do utilize some power tools for rough cutting; however, I try to use hammer & chisel and other hand tools as often as possible. The physical effort of carving stone is part of what has drawn me to this
form of art.
I have recently been working on a series of steel horses, which focus on interior and negative space as much as on contours and surface.

In her botanical illustrations she is interested in visual layers as evidenced by graphite and colored pencil drawings on watercolor monoprint surfaces. In these drawings both the colorful backgrounds and the botanical objects are of equal visual importance often making the plants seem almost transparent.
The beauty of my local surroundings inspires most of my work when I sit down to start a new rug. I compose all of my own designs and have learned most of what I know about balance and color through trial and error.
